WENDY CAROLINE GRANT

Lisa`s vals - written by Wendy Grant
Played by Wendy and De Frilynde

BRITISH FENCING SUPREMO

Wendy performed most of her career using her maiden name "Ager". She is the daughter of Rolf and Cynthia Ager and is the sister of our own Geoffrey Ager.
She was a teenage star and quickly became the leading ladies fencer in the UK, winning the British championship twice. She later went on to represent Great Britain twice at the Olympics. This is her story in scrapbook form. We believe her story, in much more detail, is underway and we hope to at least preview it on the website.

WENDY SWAPS HER FOIL FOR A VIOLIN

Wend married Derek Grant in 1976 and shortly after they moved to Norway with Derk's job as a Toxicologist. Wendy trained as a physiotherapist, but she also had a love for music and in the following videos she is playing violin with a Norwegian folk group called De Frilynde. The videos below of Wendy playing with De Frilynde are filmed expertly by Derek, and some feature a Norwegian country dancing team. Wendy composed two of the tunes herself, to commemorate the dedication of her two children Lisa and David's Baptisms. In Norway this is not necessary a religious act, but celebrates a young persons transition to adulthood. The Norwegian word 'vals' in the title of each song mean Waltz in English. You should quite easily be able to spot Wendy in the videos.
