WILLIAM AGAR  1782–1853

William Agar was a weaver born at Kendal in Cumbria. He enlisted with the 2nd Regiment of the Coldstream Foot Guards at Nottingham on 25 September 1803. He served with the Regiment for more than 20 years and fought in the Napoleonic Wars between 1803 and 1815. His son John George Basteane Ager, was born in Plymouth in 1807. John and his wife Rosina Bliss, raised their family of six, including Henry Gordon Ager, at Greenwich South East London.
